But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
The Hands and Feet of Jesus
Here at Chapel, we use the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd curriculum for our Sunday School through 6th grade, something for which I have been receiving training. Last week, I had the pleasure of presenting the work of Baptism to two brothers who will receive the Sacrament of Baptism next month. This was my first time to present a CGS work to children, and I was so nervous!
As we explored the gifts of Baptism during the work, I was struck by the fact that I gained as much from the experience as these two sweet boys did. The three of us were participants in a moment that was truly divine and holy. I’d always thought that teaching young children about Jesus was something that we do for the benefit of children. To say that I got as much from the experience as the boys did is an understatement!
We are called to bring children to Jesus. We are called to be our Lord’s hands and feet on Earth. At Chapel, we need your hands and feet! There are so many ways, both large and small, that you can help us form the lives of our precious Chapel children and also deepen and enrich your walk with Christ. From teaching or assisting in Sunday School to helping with snacks to leading Children’s Church to helping out on Wednesday nights, there is a place for you to help our children grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord. All ages and stages of volunteers are welcome! To find out more about where you might best serve, please call me at the church office or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
